Who We Are

At Virchow Photonics, we are at the forefront of medical diagnostic innovation. Our mission is to revolutionize the detection of biomarkers through our cutting-edge photonics semiconductor technology, leveraging our proprietary subwavelength grating waveguide-based micro-ring resonator (SWGMR). Founded on principles championed by Rudolf Virchow, the father of modern pathology, we dramatically  enhance the accuracy and efficacy of cancer biomarker detection.

Virchow Photonics is not just a company; we are a beacon of hope in the fight against cancer. Our focus is on the early detection of cancer biomarkers, significantly improving the speed and accuracy of diagnostics, which is crucial for effective treatment and increased survival rates. We believe in making advanced medical testing more accessible and affordable, reducing the overall burden of cancer treatment.

Our team, led by the visionary Dr. Ray Chen and CEO Thomas Lorenz, brings together over two decades of research and leadership in photonics and semiconductor technology. We are backed by strong partnerships with leading medical institutions and supported by a robust portfolio of over 20 patents.

Through our innovations, Virchow Photonics is dedicated to saving lives and lowering costs by making early detection faster, more accurate, and widely available to all.

Our Innovative Technology

At Virchow Photonics, we harness the power of photonic semiconductor solutions to usher in a new era of medical diagnostics. Central to our technology is the Subwavelength Grating Waveguide-Based Micro-Ring Resonator (SWGMR), a pioneering innovation designed for ultra-sensitive detection of biomarkers.

How Our Technology Works:

  • Highest Sensitivity: Our photonic sensors offer a tenfold increase in sensitivity over competing technologies. This exceptional sensitivity allows for the detection of biomarkers at very low concentrations, crucial for early disease detection and monitoring.

  • Rapid Results: We understand the urgency required in medical diagnostics. Our technology simplifies and accelerates the testing process, delivering results in about 15 minutes. This rapid turnaround is vital for timely clinical decisions.

  • Cost Efficiency: By integrating a fully automated process and utilizing low-cost consumables, our technology reduces overall testing costs. These innovations make frequent and widespread testing feasible, even in resource-limited settings.

  • Compact and Portable: Our compact tester design enables testing not just in laboratory settings but also directly at point-of-care locations like doctors' offices or even at home, expanding access to crucial diagnostic services.

Proven and Protected: The robustness of our technology is underpinned by over 20 patents and has been validated in multiple top peer-reviewed academic journals. Our rigorous approach ensures that each innovation we introduce advances the field of medical diagnostics with proven reliability.

Commitment to Excellence: The development of our photonic sensors reflects our commitment to excellence and our dedication to improving patient outcomes. By continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible in biomarker detection, Virchow Photonics aims to significantly enhance the efficacy of treatments and the quality of care.

Through our disruptive technology, Virchow Photonics is set to transform the landscape of healthcare technology, providing unparalleled accuracy coupled with enhanced accessibility. Our solutions are not just innovations; they are lifelines extended to those in need.
